Sea & Sky II - Limited

$650.00

it has taken many more hours of design and iteration and re-iteration to craft my sequel.
The Sea & Sky II.

So what has changed?.. Nothing, and everything.

A lot of the spirit and proportion that made the first watch such a beauty, has become the skeleton on which this "Second Album" was built.

I wanted the blue waves to be mesmerizing, I wanted texture, shimmer, depth while keeping the Seigaiha Pattern in fractal expansion. I wanted to highlight the hour markers in the water without taking away from the Sea. I wanted a cool grey body to the Mount Fuji in the background so that the snow covered peak stands out. I wanted the clouds to pop, and have touches of shade running along the periphery. I wanted the sky to be sapphire blue because naturally that’s what made the sea so captivating. The Albatross at 12 hangs motionless, as they do in nature when their wings capture ocean breeze.

The dial is done in Japanese stylistic art. The Sea is comprised of blue “Seigaiha” waves, with the specific waves at 4, 5 and 7, 8 O'clock plated in gold. The logo sits at 6 O'clock. The Sky carries on with the Japanese theme, having the clouds designed in the same fractal style of the Seigaiha wave. It was important to me to design the dial without having obvious hour markers, so I used different elements of the dial to point to each hour. The Albatross at 12 O'clock, the clouds mark the 10, 11 and 2 O'clock. A line drawn from the origin of the hands through the center of the sun points to 1 O'clock. The Kanji characters at 3 and 9 stand for "Sea" & "Sky" respectively. The dial is 18K gold plated.
