Great Wave MM200 Hand-Painted - 1 of 1

The painting is inspired by the famous Japanese scene the "Great Wave off Kanagawa" and this was my take on it. Usually it is represented in a very traditional Japanese style, I however wanted to try something different, using Japanese blue indigo, and more emphasis on depth of color and shading. For the Hour markers, I had to extract them from 2 donor dials that came from 1970's Seiko LM watches. Being over 50 years old, they were in rough shape, but I loved their contours, so I decided to sand, polish, gold plate them, and finally to mirror polish. The custom dial was then placed in a MM200 Stainless case, with a gold bezel and crown. The bezel insert is Sapphire glass and lumed, so is the chapter ring. I couldn't bring myself to use a 4R series Seiko movement, and I opted for a 6R15 with a swapped rotor engraved with the Seigaiha pattern.
